The new advanced photographic practices module that we have been given at the beginning of our third year on Salford's photography course is based on each student producing a 30- 180 seconds time based piece of work within the given theme of "Point of View". This theme being extremely interesting and fairly broad for ourselves to create an idea which helps us to show our own interests as well as developing new skills.
Some of the skills which I intend to develop during this assignment are as follows, firstly the moving image/ video side of things. Having not really done much video/moving image based pieces of work (only animation and stop motion) I would really like to play around and experiment with this medium which links very closely with photography in this ever popular technical world.
My initial thoughts from the briefing we were given are as follows.
- Possible set of images on metal work and the industrial revolution.
- Source Magazine
- Quote: "If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough"- Robert Capa.
This quote is what I believe to be the original quote and the below quote from Tod Papageorge was a quote which uses the same idea as Capa but changes the meaning.
- Quote: "If your pictures are not good enough, you aren't reading enough"- Tod Papageorge.
This is a great quote, something that I plan to work on in the near future, reading more books and contextualise my own work more from the influence and information I read.
