Although I know about enough to form an opinion on it and talk about it to someone such as the owner of the metalwork factory, I though it would be worthwhile to refresh my memory about it and also blog about it.
What I took from the brief overview of the industrial revolution was that around 300 years ago, the British high powers decided to make a legislation so that everyone who made an invention retained the rights for that invention, causing them to gain profit from this. From this, many men would set out to create new inventions. This, coupled together with the fact that Britain had an abundance of coal and with the creation of coke to power engines, the industrial revolution began. Literally like steam power!
Below is a brief overview of the film from someone else's views, taken from a BBC2 documentary on the industrial revolution.
"A mixture of drama, narration and contemporary sources. The narrative outlines the social and political triggers and the context for the Industrial Revolution. Stephenson's Rocket is a dramatised case study, used to illustrate the changes. The economic, demographic, political and social consequences of the revolution are outlined. Museum locations are used to provide a backdrop to the narration providing a flavour of the times under discussion.First broadcast on the Learning Zone on BBC2 in December 2012 as part of the series Andrew Marr's History of the World."
